This week's note from Pastor Johnson
September 23, 2020

Good day siblings in Christ!

We are looking for boxes which will be used to pack health kits for Lutheran World Relief. We created these kits prior to Easter, but LWR has just restarted receiving items, so boxes would be appreciated.

Bible study begins tonight. We will meet on the lower level of the parish hall, so please use the door coming in directly from street level. For the time being, you will need to bring your own Bible. Masks are needed as well. The topic is Genesis.

Our service is still outside this week unless it is raining. If it is raining, we will be online only.

I want to thank everyone who has already responded to the survey about returning to indoor in-person worship. The majority of people have stated that they will not be back until there is a cure or a vaccine. If you have not responded, please email me with your answers to the questions below along with any other comments you have. Your responses will help our worship team and council to make some decisions.

Question 1: How likely are you to attend in person if we move inside in October?

  1. As many times as possible
  2. Maybe once or twice a month
  3. Once every two to three months
  4. I prefer to stay online until it is safe to return

Question 2: Would you be open to a hybrid style where on the first and last Sunday of the month we would worship in person and the other weeks would be online?

  1. A hybrid model seems much safer and then we could have more songs
  2. I would rather be weekly in person and donít mind the shorter service with less music.
  3. I would rather be online only, but with weekly communion or communion I could pick up.
  4. I am not planning on returning until it is safe, so whatever the church decides is ok with me.

Be love,
Pastor Johnson

Our weekly Wednesday Bible study will be restarting on September 23 at 7:00 pm in the lower level of the parish hall. This fall we will be studying the book of Genesis. All are welcome, whether this is your first experience with Bible study or you are an old hand.

We regret to announce that the Circle School is closed for the 2020-21 school year. Coronavirus safety issues were difficult to address in our current facilities, and the need to reduce enrollment to keep our staff and students safe presented economic challenges.

To celebrate Pentecost Sunday, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians produced this inspiring virtual choir performance of O Day Full of Grace:

While our children aren't able to attend Sunday School in person, they have been been making art works to brighten our spirits during this difficult time. Here are some examples.

Amazon Smile: We are now an official Amazon Smile charity. If you have an Amazon account, kindly consider making Our Saviour the charity of choice. For every dollar you spend on Amazon, the church will receive 0.5%. Use this link to find our church and select it as your charity of choice:

Christian Crafters: Currently we are working on quilts for Lutheran World Relief. In 2019 we dedicated these beautiful quilts along with school kits, health kits, and layettes which have been sent to Lutheran World Relief. They have been distributed to those in need throughout the world.

We accept online donations using either Vanco or PayPal. Vanco (formerly Simply Giving) allows for donations from your checking or saving account and is a good, low-cost option, especially for regular donations. PayPal allows donations using a credit or debit card or your PayPal account.
