Good day siblings in Christ,
I have one small announcement about this Sunday and one larger announcement about an upcoming congregational meeting.
This Sunday, we are rolling 90 (yes 90!) healthcare kits for Lutheran World Relief. These kits go around the world when disasters happen. They include soap, a comb, toothbrush, nail clippers, and a towel. These kits need to be hand rolled and packed for shipping, so we can use anyone who can help. Children through adults can help put these kits together to help others. This would be a great time to wear your “God’s Work, Our Hands” shirt too, if you have one.
The larger announcement is about a congregational vote to allow the council to enter a contract for a new air conditioning installation in the parsonage. It will be on July 9 and this will be the only business, so it should be a very quick meeting following worship.
As background, during the annual prep for the air conditioners, we discovered the parsonage air conditioning condenser had a big dent in the top that prevents the fan from spinning properly. It was either due to the time we took the big tree down or just some random damage. The unit was already 13-15 years old, so it would have needed replacement soon anyway.
The council has received bids to replace the unit with a heat pump. This can be used for air conditioning and for heat for much of the fall/early winter months, saving on oil costs. The council can only enter contracts under 5% of the total budget and the installation cost would be above that amount, so we need congregational approval. Details will be forthcoming following this Sunday’s council meeting. Donations toward the project will be welcomed.
