Easter

Good day siblings in Christ,

Happy Easter! Just a reminder that our service is at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. It will probably be a fuller service, so please use caution driving around the church and come early for a good parking spot.

I hope you have been part of the services so far. Apologies for Thursday as YouTube was fighting against us, so we could not stream the service live. It is up on the site for viewing, as is Good Friday’s service. Pray for Phill as he had his meds switched and has not been feeling well. I’m grateful Joe could step in for yesterday’s service.

I’ve had the practice of writing my sermons for Palm Sunday through Good Friday in one writing session. My hope is to build on ideas throughout the week, so if you come all three days, you hear about a way of walking in faith. This year was about the role of the church and the us as disciples, as people who serve others out of gratitude for the grace of God. In a world torn apart by differences and constant fighting with one another over political ideology, the Church stands as a place to serve all and to serve others in love. Our mission doesn’t change no matter the climate of the world. Paul said we are in the world, but not of the world and, to me, service to the poor, the hungry, the widows, the imprisoned, the immigrant, the refugee, and those on the outskirts are where, as church, are called to serve because we have received the grace of God.

The week after Easter, we are going to have a little fun. We will have a pot luck for coffee hour, so bring an appetite and a dish to pass. We are also going to celebrate Humor Sunday.

What is Humor Sunday? You probably have heard of April Fools Day. That gets its tradition from Humor Sunday. The idea is since Jesus beat Satan and rose from the dead, it is a big prank on Satan. On the Sunday after Easter, we do small pranks during the service. What they are, we cannot tell you, but expect to be silly on that day. Wear a funny hat or shirt or something, have crazy hair, make balloon animals, whatever. Your worship leaders will also have a bit of fun that day. Do not expect a normal service.

Happy Easter! Hope to see you tomorrow!
