Good morning everyone!
I hope your Labor Day was restful and time with family, if there was time, was fruitful. A special blessing on those beginning school today and the parents watching the children head off. May today be a good beginning.
This Sunday, there are two big events happening.
The first is the blessing of quilts and kits. The church pews will be lined with quilts and all the kits created will be laid out as we bless them to send them around the world. We want to thank all those who contributed to making everything and who keep us going with this worldwide focus.
The second is the Bishop of Metro NY Synod will be our guest preacher this weekend. Bishop Katrina Foster was elected in May of this year and will be our Bishop for the next 6 years. We have not had a Bishop visit since our 90th anniversary and this time it was by the request of the Bishop. If you didn’t know, Bishop Foster is a heavy user of social media and will post lots of pictures about her trip this weekend. My hope is we will have a full congregation, so we can show how exciting Our Saviour is. If you can join us this weekend, please do so, as this is an easy way to get the word out about our congregation by showing how alive and vibrant we are. What if we had no empty seats?
The final portion of this weekend, is our coffee hour. We currently do not have an individual signed up for it, but Lois and Karen have offered to set up and tear down, if they can get some help. If any of our bakers, soup makers, yummy buyers, and the like brought something on Sunday, it would be an amazing thank you to our quilters and kit makers, as well as a welcoming gesture to our Bishop and possibly her wife (I’m not sure if she is coming). Our Saviour is great a food an hospitality, so let’s share our gift!
Thank you all.
