Mask policy; Ash Wednesday

Good day siblings in Christ,

The purpose of this note is to provide a very quick update on worship for the next few weeks.

As you have probably heard, the mask mandate for schools will be lifted on Wednesday March 2. After polling the congregation and listening in church for the last few weeks, Our Saviour will begin to make masks optional in worship as well. If you would like to still wear a mask, no one will bother you about it. I plan to still wear one for most of the service.

The only Sunday we will require a mask is March 20, as we celebrate a baptism! This will make it easier for the family and help keep our youngest ones safe. There will be a reminder about this ahead of time.

Finally, Ash Wednesday is March 2 with a service at 7:00 p.m. The service will be streamed online as well. The bulletin will be posted on the website tomorrow. As we begin Lent, I invite you into a time of prayer and devotion. I am late in picking my Lenten reading this year, but if you are interested, I will be going through “All the Things” by Kate Haseltine. Her study is only 30 days long, so I will find 10 extra days somewhere. I have been practicing the Examen for almost a decade now and have found the practice enriching. This is a guided Examen and it seems just right as we begin shifting and changing during this new time.
