Announcements for the New Year

Good day siblings in Christ,

Happy New Year everyone! I hope the Christmas and New Year celebrations went well and everyone remained safe. This week’s bulletin is still under construction, so it will go out later this week, but I wanted to send a few reminders now.

The first is that Wednesday Bible study will resume on January 10. We will continue studying Exodus, where we have just left Egypt. If you are interested in joining, we meet at 7:00 p.m. in the rear of the church.

The second is a reminder that we are in cold and flu season. There has also been a huge uptick in Covid and RSV this year. After the Christmas Eve service, about 3 people said they were battling Covid that week due to visiting family and being out in the community. If you are not feeling well, please stay home and/or wear a mask. This includes the church service and the church office. If you are not feeling well, play it safe for others sake.

As I shared after Thanksgiving, I thought I just had a head cold and if I had not tested, I would not have known I had contracted Covid. To me, being aware when we are unwell and taking precautions to protect others is part of our call to care for the earth and for our neighbors.

Third, Frya and the Lutheran World Relief crew and our church made the front page of the Lutheran World Relief blog in December. You can view the blog here.

Finally, we are now using a Google calendar to schedule events and keep track of building usage. We expect an uptick in groups using the building this year (we now have jam makers and a second Girl Scout troop, yay!). Please check the calendar before scheduling events to be sure the space is available. For example, AA is having their 50th anniversary this Saturday and are using the Fellowship Hall from 3:00-10:00 p.m. Here is the link to our calendar:
