Activities in September

Good day siblings in Christ,

Thank you to all who helped with quilts, school bags, baby kits, and health care kits. With many hands, not only were there many donations, but they were packed up in record time! They will be sitting in our entryway for a few weeks before shipment, so don’t mind the mess.

There are two events coming in September to be aware of. The first is on September 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the 9/11 memorial in Croton. There is an annual community remembrance held there and I have led the opening and closing prayer for the last five years. It is an honor to do so. It is a very special service with the three local town mayors coming together to honor those who died in the towers, those who survive, and first responders.

On September 18, we will have a worship service to acknowledge Indian Boarding Schools. The official day of recognition is on September 30 and individuals are encouraged to wear orange. You are invited to wear orange on September 18 as well. The service comes from the American Indian Lutheran community with a few of my own additions in it. It is a representation of what Native American Lutherans bring to the table. There are not many of us, but we are here.

Sunday School will be starting shortly, as will Bible study. I will offer an online study in addition to the in-person one. Look for the in-person Bible Study to start on Wednesday, September 14.

We are gearing up for a tag sale on October 8! Donations can begin soon and there will be a sign-up sheet for those who can help on that day.
