Good day siblings in Christ,
This Sunday, following coffee hour, we will close voting on our Reconciling in Christ vote. You can either vote in person or email your response to me. We are saying yes or no to the question: “Our Saviour should be a reconciling in Christ congregation affirming the love of God for all people. We believe 2SLGBTQIA individuals and families are loved by God and will be welcomed at Our Saviour. We will continue to strive against racism and continue to grow as an anti-racist community.” This is the official vote to report to Reconciling Works.
Thank you to those who attended or watched the stream of the Lorraine Hansberry event. I know there is a live stream somewhere, so if you get a chance to see it, I highly recommend Mondaire Jones’ keynote on how voting rights are being challenged now and the effect of banning books. There is a great lesson on civil rights history as well in the video.
On June 25, we will be rolling 90 (yes 90!) healthcare kits to send to Lutheran World Relief. It is not difficult to do, but there are so many kits, we can use every hand available. These kits get sent into the world when disaster strikes. They contain a towel, soap, toothbrush, comb, nail clippers, etc. Right now there is a great need in Türkiye and Ukraine and several items are being shipped there.
If you did not see it, the local Croton clergy, including me, wrote an article for the local papers condemning anti-LGBTQIA actions. Last week, some members of the community walked with hate filled posters and flyers because a local business decided to do a drag story hour in the store. Here was the article- https://riverjournalonline.com/letters/pride-month/71593/?fbclid=IwAR1O8mHfI6rDwNd6rAP-qfekY73PuMyd_5rWyCOfiJ2ZH5yLTXbYaL0Gj50_aem_th_Ado7NDliY_LwWzutheFOZxdhwotsI__j-4xxJ6ki9_hKdhFsnGn09H7cBDBLOKx2vWs It is on our Facebook page too and we have been tagged by other churches.
